Where to put a drink beside a rocking chair
Plan a comfortable reach with clearance for the chair’s full motion.
Use a separate table
A moving armrest is not a stable resting surface for a freestanding base. Put the drink on a broad, stable side table instead.
Check the full movement
With the drink removed, check the space the chair needs through its normal motion. Keep the table, holder and other objects clear of the runners and moving parts.
Test the reach while still
Sit comfortably with the chair stopped and reach toward an empty container. Move the table if you need to lean awkwardly or cross the rocker path.
